I guess why I am even going to write this...

A visual novel is an interactive fiction game, featuring mostly static anime-style graphics, or occasionally live-action stills or video footage. As the name might suggest, they resemble mixed-media novels or tableau vivant stage plays.
In Japanese terminology, a distinction is often made between visual novels proper (abbreviated NVL), which consist predominantly of narration and have very few interactive elements, and adventure games (abbreviated AVG or ADV), which may incorporate problem-solving and other types of gameplay.*Took it from wikipedia because Im lazy as hell <.<

I noticed Ive played a few visual novels already but they doesnt have that much attention. AND THEY DESERVE ATTENTION YOU KNOW. Cause its like reading a book... but you can decide how its gonna end. And who doesnt like to decide. (?)
Havent you ever tried those books called 'Choose your Own Adventure'? I DID! When I finished playing Heavy Rain and the director said he had played this when little- /shot

Coming to the point again, Imma show you some novels Ive played so you can try it >v< I assure you you wont regret to try some of them (its not like I put the one I liked the most at first, Im just writing what it comes to my mind lol). Also, Ill add the start of each game so you can make an idea yourselves about how the story is gonna go on:

1- 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors.- Junpei, the player protagonist, wakes up inside a small locked room; his last memory was that of him being drugged to sleep by an unknown person in a gas mask. He finds that he has a bracelet with the number "5" on it and that he can not leave the room. He appears to be on a boat, and is forced to solve a puzzle to escape the room before it floods from a leaking window. (This one is kinda long, for nintendo ds and include puzzles. It really has a nice plot and good characters. It also has a sequel, but still on japanese only*throws table*)

2- [text] A summer story - Maya has a summer travel to his aunt's house on an island. As she's sending a message to his aunt to let him know that shes coming, she receive a weird text message from a person I had never met before- from her aunt's mobile phone. (This one is really short, but interesting. You can play it on PC and it doesnt include any character design-)

3- EVER 17 -End of Infinity-  - On a side, a boy who travels to a paradise island on the middle of the ocean. Right under the island, theres a huge theme park named LaMU, where he was supossed to met his friends. But things turned out unexpected and he suddenly find himself trapped on an elevator, with screaming ppl outside the box. On the other side, a boy just wake up sitting on a bench, inside the LaMU. He doesnt remember a thing, not even his name. He barely remember that he was there waiting for someone to come... (LONG. But interesting, maybe even confusing sometimes :D You can play it on the PC)

4- Ace Attorney - Theres no way Im gonna tell you what this is lol (Nintendo DS)

5- Hotel Dusk / Last Window - You might know this one aswell- Detective Kyle Hyde is sent to an hotel on the middle of nowhere while hes trying to recover his job- But it resulted not to be an ordinary hotel./ Sequel, Kyle Hyde come back to his house, who is gonna be demolished soon for some weird reason. (Nintendo DS)

6- Higurashi no naku koro ni - I bet you will prefer the anime lol

7- Umineko no naku koro ni - Same as before lol The art is horrible.

8- Trace memory - OF COURSEEEEEEEE This one is old lol (Nintendo DS)

9- Time Hollow - Time Hollow follows the story of Ethan Kairos, whose parents, Timothy and Pamela Kairos, mysteriously disappear on his 17th birthday. Ethan realizes that the entire world has changed as if his parents had disappeared 12 years ago. Ethan then finds a note tied to his cats collar telling him to look in a dumpster behind his school and he finds a Hollow Pen, an uncanny object with the unique power to open portals to the past, as well as a note from his parents. Ethan uses the pen to solve problems that suddenly and mysteriously occur, thus changing the present, though he himself is able to remember these past parallel universes. (Nintendo DS)

If I remember some more Ive played Ill come and write it :O
Try them. Now.

I absolutely want to play Umineko no Naku Koro ni someday. v Lol even if I know the art is terrible.
I played the Phoenix Wirght trilogy... is it a visual novel too? Maybe I've played also other visual novel games... Togainu no Chi, for example. I like visual novels! But the best ones are in Japanese only... orz. I wish I'd know what they're saying, 'cause it's mostly dialogue...
I also can't wait for DRAMAtical Murder! It was released yesterday in Japan! :3
I love Nitro+CHiRAL's NVL! <3 They're awesome BL games, and there's not much of seme/uke stereotype. Amd the characters always fight! :D I'd love to play Lamento too... But it doesn't work on my pc. orz

:O Ive seen that Togainu no chi game and it looks amazing! Do you know how can I find it to download? I prefer it in english... if not, I heard theres an anime version too :>
Dramatical murder style looks very awesome too, cannot wait =O
I couldnt find anything about that Lamento though >v<u

Unfortunately, there are no english versions of Nitro+CHiRAL games. ;w; But I think some website is working on a translation. Maybe. And I say, the anime is HORRIBLE, because it has awful graphics and it doesn't follow any of the possible stories in the game, so it doesn't even make sense. But it can be useful to understand the plot, at least D: also, the anime is not yaoi, it's not even shonen ai! While the game is yaoi, EXPLICIT yaoi. <3
About Lamento, here you can find info on characters and story: [link]
You can find the downloads somewhere in the web, but I can't remember where. ;v;
Ah! All the Nitro+CHiRAL games are BL. :3 This goes for Togainu no Chi, Lamento, Sweet Pool and DRAMAtical Murder.
Neikhael Featured By Owner Mar 27, 2012
I feel like translating now lol
Yes, the anime doesnt look really good, senpai :T I watched first episode, then I throw away the other two I had downloaded lol
So... I guess theres not togainu no chi for me lol
Errr it looks like Lamento is all about neko-boys and I dont use to like neko- idk why...
But maybe dramatical murder its gonna be cool o.o

...Even if I wont ever be able to play it lol
/jumps into a hole

It's a pity ;A; Togainu is so cool, it's all the anime's fault if it looks bad NVCjdnjsdn
There's also Sweet Pool! D My best friend is playing it and she says it's really great (BUT she can understand japanese, 'cause she studies it. ;-;). Idk much about it tough.
But- you can play them using some program to open iso files, like DAEMON Tools. v
Neikhael Featured By Owner Mar 27, 2012
Oh wait, Ill take a look on Sweet Pool aswell *goes*
Its just that Ive to study anatomy for tomorrow's exam. Lungs are killing me :I
I would like to know japanese so much -_- Daemon tools? But, if I cannot understand a word... it doesnt have any sense i guess XD
Ive just discovered a novel called Afterlife train. It looks interesting, maybe Ill get it sometime :O
Ningyoplug Featured By Owner Mar 27, 2012  Student Digital Artist
I see ;3; I try to understand a bit what they say, that's what I did with the Inazuma Eleven games too... but that was easier... ;3;
Afterlife train? I'll check it out! :3
Neikhael Featured By Owner Mar 28, 2012
